Hello!
I’m Inge, a self-taught illustrator and creative maker living close to the North Sea in Belgium, with my husband, two sons and our dog. My creative journey began with a little suitcase that belonged to my grandfather.
I inherited the little suitcase after his death in 1995, filled with paintings, sketches, paper and clippings of birds and animals he once wanted to draw and paint. He was one very creative soul. I could spend hours watching him draw and paint.
And drawing was all I did when I was little - I loved it so much. I even drew on the walls! Growing up with the books of Roald Dahl, I got transported in another world and seeing the cool drawings by Quentin Blake, I announced that I wanted to do just that when I grew up. I always knew I wanted to create beautiful things for others.
After my burn-out I learned that drawing really is what makes my heart truly sings.
Facts about me:
I’m an only child, pretty chaotic, I love to make a mess when drawing and painting, and yet I enjoy having a cleaned house. I also have way too many perfumes, and I suspect I’ve got ADD.
I don’t like:
people who lie, people who are not polite, people who hate animals, accountancy and numbers (I’ve got dyscalculia), things that stink, crowds and too many people in one place, mussels, oysters, coffee.
I love:
peonies, the salt air and the beautiful views at the beach, tea with honey, fries with mayonaise (you can wake me up for that), decorating our home, reading, book shops, shopping for art supplies, travelling, taking pictures, cuddling and walking with our dog.

Chanel, the cheekiest one in the house…

Not yet… I’m working as an administration officer. After work, on Wednesdays and during weekends I’m working on illustrations, commissions or experimenting in my sketchbooks.

Anywhere, really. When I’m on a trip or traveling to a city, or just walking around at the beach or in our town. Inspiration can strike at any time, when I’m browsing books, magazines or seeing work from other artists. I really try to make a habit of taking my sketchbook everywhere with me!

Me! I’ve been dabbling with photography a few years ago as well, and it is still one of my (many) passions. You can always find me on my travels photographing every little thing that strikes my eye.

For my art materials I love popping in Huis Van Loocke and Neverland in Bruges. When I’m in Antwerp, I’ll definitely go to Lucas Creativ. Online I almost always order at the lovely Dutch shop Splendith! Although I’ve also ordered at Lucas Creativ and Be Creative Shop! One shop I haven’t tried yet, is the Wieuw in Antwerp…
